Putting Farmington Residents First

I am proud to publicly announce that I am running for Mayor of Farmington in the 2026 election.

It would be an honor to serve as your mayor and work every day to ensure that Farmington’s government is responsive, accountable, and focused on the people it serves. Our taxpayers and residents deserve leadership that listens, communicates openly, and represents their best interests.

Over the past two years, I have attended numerous City Council meetings and have listened to the concerns of many residents. Too often, people have expressed frustration that their questions and concerns were not given the attention or respect they deserved.

One example was the reconstruction of Akin Road. Many residents experienced significant challenges during the project and felt their concerns were overlooked. Residents deserve to be heard, treated with respect, and included in decisions that affect their neighborhoods and daily lives.

Many citizens have also voiced concerns about decisions involving higher taxes, reduced services, leapfrog development, rezoning established residential neighborhoods, and proposals for large-scale development projects, including NDA’s for a proposed data center near existing homes. Not being open to a one year moratorium to study the impact. Residents have raised questions about water use, electrical demand, environmental impacts, neighborhood character, and long-term planning. They don’t want it in their back yard and like most cities in Minnesota don’t want them at all. Many have asked the City to slow down and carefully study these issues before moving forward.

Additional concerns have been expressed regarding proposed development on recently annexed property from Eureka Township for 300 plus roof tops that is not included in the City’s current Comprehensive Plan.

These are important issues that deserve thoughtful discussion, transparency, and meaningful public input.

My Priorities as your Mayor

As your Mayor, I will work to:

-Listen to residents and ensure every voice is heard.

-Support our police officer, firefighters,EMTs, and all first responders by advocating for programs that address stress, mental health, and wellness.

-Keep property taxes as low as possible while maintaining excellent city services and public safety.

-Promote responsible, well-planned growth that benefits our entire community.

-Encourage residential, commercial, and industrial development that strengthens Farmington while protecting our neighborhoods.

-Improve communication between the Mayor, City Council, city staff, and residents.

-Lead with Transparency, accountability, and integrity.

-Protect Farmington's heritage, Vermillion River designated as a trout stream, while planning wisely for future generations.

Experience Matters

I have proudly called Farmington home for more than 30 years.

For over 25 years, I have owned and operated a local residential construction business, working closely with homeowners, contractors, and our community.

I also had the privilege of serving on the Farmington City Council and as Acting Mayor in 2008, giving me firsthand experience with city government and the importance of responsible leadership.

I believe Farmington can continue to grow while preserving the qualities that make it a great place to live, raise a family, and own a business.

Our city deserves leadership that puts residents firs, plans responsibly, and makes decisions with openness and accountability.

HIGHWAY 50 & DENMARK AVENUE SAFETY
Direct engagement with Farmington residents and online discussions have made it clear: the intersection by McDonald’s is a major safety concern. Improving this area is a top priority for our community.
As your candidate for Mayor, I am committed to a proactive approach toward safety, traffic flow, and long-term infrastructure planning along Highway 50 and Denmark Avenue. I believe we cannot wait for accidents to happen before we take action.
I recently spoke with County Commissioner Mike Slavik regarding these specific concerns. He confirmed that a firm has been hired to conduct a comprehensive corridor study of Highway 50. This study will span from the city limits, past Flagstaff Avenue, to the Denmark Avenue intersection. This critical evaluation process is set to begin shortly.
Looking ahead, there are development plans for Denmark Avenue that include a roundabout near the school to facilitate safer traffic flow for the adjacent neighborhoods. Current projections suggest this project will move forward around 2028.
Furthermore, providing adequate lighting at the Highway 50 and McDonald’s junction is a municipal responsibility. As Mayor, working alongside a new City Council, I will prioritize exploring lighting options and other immediate safety enhancements for this specific location.
I have also initiated talks about lowering the speed limit to 45 mph on Highway 50 between Pilot Knob Road and the Akin Road/Denmark Avenue intersection. This would require a county-led speed study. Through my previous experience with such studies, I know they must be approached strategically, as findings can sometimes lead to recommended increases rather than decreases.
If elected, I will maintain a close partnership with county officials and local stakeholders to secure practical, effective solutions for the Highway 50 corridor.
